"Today Is Our Independence Day!"

Good morning. In a few hours, players from here will join others from England. And you will be launching the largest battle in this history of American soccer.

American soccer -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

This is no longer about whether soccer is "boring" or "doesn't have enough scoring". Those arguments are behind us now. Sorry, but American soccer is here and here to stay. Get used it.

It's about winning this game.

We will be united in our common interests.

We are Americans and we get behind Americans that play sports against other countries. If you can support an American ice dancer or shot putter in the Olympics why the f*ck can't you support an American soccer team.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 12th of June, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist, to play our own game.

To call it "soccer".

And should we win the day, the 12th of June will soon be known as an American holiday, and as the day when the United States declared in one voice:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today, we celebrate our Soccer Independence Day!
