Snorting The Endline - Kei Kamara's Irish Jig

A long, long time ago we tried to start a soccer website; thought we were writers or something....

It was called "Snorting the Endline" named after Robbie Fowler's infamous goal celebration and one of our favorites of all-time. That site failed miserably. I mean who would want to read our ramblings!?!?!

The name, however, will live on in a new feature we're bringing to the Free Beer Movement. American soccer culture is just as much about what happens on the field and some of the greatest contributions to this culture are the creative celebrations that occur during the aftermath of scoring a goal. Some are premeditated while others are spur-of-the-moment.

We want to capture all of them in recognition of their contribution to American soccer culture. Welcome to "Snorting the Endline."

Sporting KC made easy work of the New England Revolution, winning 3-0, but it was the second goal of the match that celebrated in the St. Patrick's Day spirit by Kei Kamara.

Kamara is no stranger to silliness and his rebound goal off his own shot proved to be the perfect opportunity to dance away the Irish holiday.

Kamara slid to the turf, but then popped up and ran to the signboards in front of the "Caudron" supporters section where forward C.J. Sapong joined him. Two "Irish" hats were tossed from the crowd and the pair danced a little jig.

Surprisingly, no cards were issued by the ref!

Snorting the Endline - Freddy Montero's Home Run Shot

Freddy Montero is friends with Seattle Mariners shortstop Jack Wilson who, apparently, used to be quite the soccer player. Before the Sounders match against Colorado Wilson and Montero were chatting when the infielder made a request for a baseball-esqe celebration should the forward score.

Montero did score. In fact, he got the game-winner, in the 83rd minute. That's when he broke out the fictitious bat and ball. Similar to Clint Dempsey's home run swing when he scored for the New England Revolution at RFK Stadium (back in 2007 when it was still used for baseball and had a spot for home plate), but this time Montero got a pitcher, Osvaldo Alonso, in on the celebration (not seen on camera).

Baseball may be America's pastime, but soccer is America's future. Nice to see Montero playing tribute to a truly American sport in a global game.

Play ball!

Snorting the Endline - Jason Kreis and the Eyeball

Today's edition comes from not a player, but a coach, Real Salt Lake's Jason Kreis. Against the New England Revolution Kreis saw his squad go down a man and a goal early in yesterday's match due to some pretty atrocious officiating. RSL managed to crawl back though some controversy of their own (another questionable penalty call) and a late Fabian Espindola goal.

When Espindola grabbed the 83rd minute equalizer Kreis had little sympathy Revs and coach Steve Nicol giving their bench a "single tear" mixed with the "contact lens pull" taunt.

Before their  CONCACAF Champions League Final loss earlier this year Kreis said, "We're not here to weather the storm; We're here to be the storm."

Looks like the RSL front man is stirring the pot again.

New Feature - "Snorting the Endline": Celebrating Goal Celebrations

Today we're featuring a pair of creative celebrations from Saturday's U.S. Women's National Team 3-0 victory against Colombia.

First up... Megan Rapinoe's "Born in the USA" rendition. The second goal of the match. Springsteen definitely shouldn't worry about being outsung...

Second is the entire Lady Nats' celebration after Heather O'Reilly's 12th minute opening strike. Local U.S. military families from a nearby base were invited to watch the National Team train the day before and many were in attendance at the match in Heidelberg, Germany. The women lined up and saluted the crowd.

Perfectly patriotic for this Fourth of July weekend.
